Cravens Arts Council
The Craven Arts Council & Gallery works to create an environment where the arts thrive, bring joy and enrich the cultural experience of our community. From Summer Arts Camp and Jazz Showcase to the Arts Auction & Gala and Bank of the Arts exhibits, the Craven Arts Council & Gallery brings quality arts programming to over 30,000 people each year. Craven Community College Foundation
Craven Community College is a learning community dedicated to providing educational opportunities for people in university parallel study, occupational, technical and career programs. We provide a rigorous and challenging curriculum and programs of study, with a special blend of technical, liberal arts, occupational and continuing education instruction responsive to the global community and a changing world. The college is two-campus institution located in Craven County, North Carolina, with campuses in New Bern and Havelock. Craven Regional Medical Center Foundation
One of the goals of the CRMC Foundation is to build healthier communities in Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties. Increasing awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer is key to reaching this goal. Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina
With a mission to help individuals in the community develop the capacity to respectfully resolve conflict. The Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina, Inc. provides Craven County Teen Court, Resolve It Together (a conflict resolution program for families), Peacemakers (a gang prevention program), community mediation services and other educational programs.
MERCI Clinic
MERCI Clinic, Inc. operates a free health clinic for low-income adults who do not have health insurance. It serves patients from Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties, on two afternoons per week, at its clinic facility located in New Bern. Qualified patients receive medical care and prescriptions at no cost. Most physicians, pharmacists and nurses providing care are volunteers, as are most of the administrative workers at the clinic. Promise Place
Promise Place helps victims, families and survivors of child abuse and family violence. Formed in 1981, the agency specializes in child sexual abuse and provides a place where hope and healing begin. The agency provides crisis intervention, medical and legal advocacy, therapy and emergency need referrals as needed by victims and their families. In addition, the staff is also available to speak to civic, church and community groups on agency services and issues related to all forms of family violence. Religious Community Services
RCS operates an Emergency Center for assistance with past-due rent/utilities, food, clothing and vouchers for gasoline, bus tickets, kerosene, and prescription medications. A 20-bed Emergency Shelter provides housing, food, case management and other necessary services for homeless families and individuals. Our Hunger Ministry operates a daily food recovery program, two soup kitchens and a food pantry. Recovered food is shared with youth and senior adult programs and half-way houses. Twin Rivers YMCA
Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Our Board members are all volunteers, and we have a professional staff. We are a membership, nonprofit organization that is celebrating 25 years of service to the community in 2005. We have a convertible aquatic center (outdoor in the summer and indoor in the winter), indoor pool, gymnasium, racquetball court, free-weight room, cardio room, indoor track, aerobics room, youth activity room, locker rooms, playground, and ball fields. We offer a variety of programs for folks of all ages in a clean, caring environment. For those who cannot afford the normal fees but need a wholesome place to help keep their spirit, mind, and body in top shape, we offer scholarships. Any monies received as a result of this race will be put toward our scholarship program.
