The Neuse River Bridge Run is held in historic downtown New Bern, offering magnificent views of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. There's plenty to do in and around town, including the Havelock Chili Festival on Saturday afternoon. Or, spend some family time touring downtown New Bern, visiting Tryon Palace, or trying one of our delicious eateries.

Participants can choose between a 10K or a 5K course, and can run or walk depending on ability. Both courses are USATF certified and runners are timed.

The 10K race will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. The last bus will run from Union Point at 7:00 a.m., but we encourage you to take one of the earlier buses to be on the safe side. And there'll be lots of activity going on in Bridgeton to get you psyched and warmed up for the run. The 5K race will start promptly at 8:45 a.m. Please arrive at Union Point Park no later than 8:15 a.m. Race day registration and pre-registration packet pick-up will close at 8:00 a.m.

TIMING The bridge run uses the IPICO Timing System, the official timing system of the Road Runners Club of America and the Lidingoloppet in Sweden, the world's largest cross-country race.

ENTRY FEES Entry fees are non-refundable and include a race t-shirt if pre-registering on or before 10/1/10. Register online at active.com or use the form available on the downloads page. The registration fee is $30.00 through 10/1/10. After that, registration fee is $40.00 and t-shirts will be distributed on an as-available basis. All mail-in registration forms must be postmarked by 10/1/10.

EARLY PACKET PICK-UP Early packet pick-up is available and encouraged on Friday (10/15/10) from 4-7 p.m. at our host hotel, the Hilton New Bern located at 100 Middle Street on the waterfront. Packets will contain bib number and t-shirt if pre-registered before 10/1/10.

BABYSITTING SERVICE Babysitting service is being offered by Play Date at 1910-C S. Glenburnie Road and is available at an additional charge. Call them at (252) 633-5557 for complete details. Reservations MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE.

PARKING Free parking will be available in and around downtown New Bern. Allow walking time to Union Point Park. NO PARKING AT UNION POINT PARK.

10K RUN SHUTTLE SERVICE The Neuse River Bridge Run Shuttle Service will begin loading 10K runners at 6:30 a.m. The shuttle will transport 10K race participants from Union Point Park to the race start in the Food Lion parking lot located on Hwy. 55 West. The last shuttle will load at 7:30 a.m. to drop off at Food Lion at 8:10 a.m. You must have your Run/Walk bib number to board buses! Twin Rivers YMCA provides a warm-up stretching session prior to the start of the 10K race.

5K RUN/WALK The 5K course will start and end at Union Point Park. The 5K race will start promptly at 8:45 a.m. Please arrive at Union Point Park no later than 8:15 a.m. Race day registration and pre-registration packet pick-up will close at 8:00 a.m.

BAGGAGE/SWEAT SHUTTLE Runners only. A table will be set up at the race start in the Food Lion parking lot to accept pre-labeled runners bags. Bags and labels will be provided. Runners will retrieve their belongings at the Baggage/Sweat Shuttle table at the race finish in Union Point Park. There is no fee for this service. The Neuse River Bridge Run and its affiliates will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

RUN FINISH LINE Move swiftly through the finish chute. DO NOT STOP! Continue through the chute to the riverside of the park. Look for refreshment and water tents! Place your IPICO chip in the chip return bins located at the end of the finish line chute area. Volunteers will be available to assist you with chip removal.

RACE COURSE Both the 5K and 10K are USATF certified point to point footraces. Only runners will be offered chip-timing using the IPICO system. Chip will be attached to your shoe. There is a $30.00 surcharge for all unreturned/lost chips.

AWARDS All runners must be chip-timed to be eligible for an award. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall 5K male and female finishers, the top 3 overall 10K male and female finishers, and the top 3 male and female 5K and 10K finishers in the following age categories: under 15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. No duplicate awards will be given. Award ceremony will take place at the Union Point Park gazebo.

SPECIAL SAFETY CONDITIONS
1) No babyjoggers, pets or inline skates will be permitted.
2) Wheelchair participants are permitted, but please contact us at the time of registration for shuttle accommodations.
3) Traffic will be stopped only for brief periods. Runners/walkers must be aware of moving traffic at all times. City streets will not be officially closed. The passenger lanes of Hwy. 55 West, over the Neuse and Trent Rivers, will be closed. The 10K start is on the service road in front of the Food Lion parking lot on Hwy. 55 West.
5) No children under 10 years old are permitted to participate. Please check out the kids' fun run for your children under 10 years of age.
