In addition to raising funds for our community, the need for volunteers is at the top of our wish list!
The Neuse River Bridge Run has hundreds of volunteer opportunities. If you would like to sign up as a volunteer, please email us or contact one of the participating nonprofit organizations. Your information will not be sold or rented, and no one else will contact you except the Bridge Run committee. Please be sure to include the assignment(s) you're signing up for.
The volunteer committee is recruiting for the positions below, and we've broken them down into specific dates and schedules:
Thursday, Oct. 14th 5-7pm
Job: Setup & Packet Stuffing (FULL)
Location: Hilton New Bern
Desc: help with preparing for early packet pickup the following day
Friday, Oct. 15th 4-7pm
Job: Early packet pickup (FULL)
Location: Hilton New Bern
Desc: hand out registration packets (inc. bib & t-shirts) to participants
Job: Early registration (FULL)
Location: Hilton New Bern
Desc: help sign up participants for event(s)
Saturday, Oct. 16th 6-11am (varies with job)
Job: Race Day Registration (8)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: help people w/race day signup and hand out packets
Job: Chip distribution (2)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: hand out chips to participants
Job: Course Monitors (32)
Location: 5K & 10K courses (will be assigned closer to race day)
Desc: direct participants in direction of race course, turns, etc.
Job: Cheerleaders (12)
Location: finish line @ Union Point Park
Desc: create a celebration atmosphere at the finish line to encourage runners & walkers
Job: Chip Removal (6)
Location: outside finish line area @ Union Point Park
Desc: help participants remove & collect their chips
Job: Kids' Fun Run (8)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: help wrangle kids and event coordination
Job: Transportation (4 - separate from 10K transportation)
Location: 5K & 10K courses
Desc: need people with SUVs, vans or trucks to help haul bridge run equipment to storage unit after the race, and to help with last minute transportation needs
Job: Water stations (5 different stations - 10 people @ each station)
Location: throughout both courses
Desc: hand out water to participants passing by and offer encouragement
Job: First Aid tent (6)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: provide basic first aid as needed, contact emergency crew as needed
Job: Volunteer tent (8)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: provide information and assist volunteers
Job: Food tent (FULL)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: hand out fruit and water to participants
Job: Baggage (2)
Location: Food Lion in Bridgeton & Union Point Park
Desc: collect belongings from 10k participants and hand-out at end of race
Job: Bridgeton side (6)
Location: Food Lion in Bridgeton
Desc: help coordinate 10k participants, baggage, and start of 10K race
Job: Cleanup (8)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: help load up bridge run equipment and supplies post-race, clean up Union Point Park
Job: Awards & Ceremonies (2)
Location: Union Point Park
Desc: assist with handing out awards
